HCA Houston Healthcare Selects Pearland for HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement
New 48,400 square-foot, state of the art training facility under construction in Pearland Town Center
PEARLAND, Texas — Leadership from the City of Pearland and the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) are pleased to announce HCA Houston Healthcare’s decision to choose Pearland as the location for its HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement. HCA Houston Healthcare celebrated with a ground breaking for the Center on February 26, 2020.
HCA Houston Healthcare, a leading provider of healthcare in the Houston area, treats almost a million patients every year. With an employee base of 15,000, HCA Houston Healthcare’s comprehensive network includes 13 hospitals, 10 outpatient surgery centers, 11 freestanding emergency centers and numerous freestanding diagnostic imaging facilities in the greater Houston area.
The HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement marks the second major expansion in Pearland by HCA in the past five years. HCA Healthcare Houston opened its Pearland hospital, a 144,000 square-foot, acute care hospital featuring surgical suites, medical/surgical beds, intensive care beds, an emergency department, and an imaging department, in 2015.
The PEDC and city officials began recruitment efforts for this project with HCA Houston Healthcare and CBL & Associates in 2018. The 48,400 square-foot, state-of-the-art training center will house high-fidelity hospital simulation labs, connected classrooms and de-briefing rooms, where the health system’s nearly 7,000 nurses will receive ongoing clinical education and training. The center will also serve as a hub for all HCA Houston Healthcare new hire orientations and the division’s Leadership and Organizational Development training. The center is scheduled to be open in early 2021.

Multiple life science and healthcare employers have been recruited to Pearland by PEDC in recent years, including Lonza’s 300,000 square-foot manufacturing facility – the largest dedicated cell-and-gene-therapy manufacturing facility in the world – and Kelsey Seybold’s 170,000 square-foot administrative headquarters.
The HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement will be developed and owned by CBL & Associates, and located in the Pearland Town Center. The Pearland Town Center, also owned and managed by CBL & Associates, is located near the intersection of Broadway and State Highway 288 and is the region’s premier lifestyle center shopping destination. Completed in 2008 and continuing to grow, Pearland Town Center provides retail, residential, office and hotel space within the 937,000 sq. ft. open-air location.
