Shopping and Dining

Since 2000, retail sales in Pearland have increased more than 85% with the addition of popular stores and restaurants including Kohl’s, JCPenney, Super Target, Pier 1, Best Buy, Home Depot, Chili’s Grill & Bar, Panera Bread and Johnny Carino’s Country Italian. 

Today, retail sales exceed more than $1 billion annually, and yet, retail growth continues. From June 2006 through May 2007, Pearland experienced a true surge in retail with the launch of three, high-quality projects that will add a combined 1.9 million square feet of new retail to the city.

The Promenade Shops at The Spectrum, a 950,000-square-foot, mixed-use development being developed by Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers, LLC, broke ground on June 23, 2006. Emulating a town center environment, it will feature 630,000 square feet of specialty retail and restaurants, a theater, public market, hotel, 350 dwelling units and potential office space. The entire center will be adorned with a wide, landscaped boulevard and a combination of covered walkways, breezeways, vine-covered trellises, fountains and three lakes. Phase 1 of the project will be completed by fall 2008.

Pearland Town Center is a 750,000-square-foot, open-air shopping mall being developed by CBL & Associates that broke ground in spring 2007. Once complete in July 2008, it will feature retail, restaurants and specialty shops. Macy's, Dillard’s and Barnes & Noble have already committed to the development.  Plans also include the development of apartments, office space, a hotel and entertainment venues to complement the retail portion. 

Fox Transwestern is developing a 600,000-square-foot, retail “power center” close to Pearland Town Center. The center will be anchored by a 150,000-square-foot H-E-B grocery store, the largest in the Houston area to date, as well as an Academy Sports & Outdoors store. The project broke ground in November 2006, with Academy opening in June 2007.
