Sports and Recreation

Whether you want to be a spectator or participant you will find a lot of opportunities in Pearland. We are home to the 2010 Division 5A State Football and Softball Champions and the 2010 Little League World Series Finalists Pearland All Stars. Needless to say, there is a lot of community pride, history and respect for our local sports.

Recreation Center & Natatorium

In addition to sporting opportunities in our schools, the City of Pearland is committed to providing world-class recreational opportunities for our residents. Nothing demonstrates this commitment more than our recently opened the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium. The 107,000 sq. ft facility boasts a gymnasium, weight room, activity room, racquetball courts, locker rooms, elevated indoor track and a 50-meter competition pool. Learn more.

The Parks and Recreation Department

Pearland’s Parks and Recreation Department  offers classes and programs for youth, adults and seniors, as well as a first-class facility in the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium, many master-planned parks, a planned trail system and much more.

More Outdoor Recreation

Pearland is also fortunate to have:
• Public golf courses
• Sand volleyball courts
• Tennis courts
• Soccer fields
• Playgrounds
• Dog parks
• A YMCA
• National and local health clubs

Professional Sports

Less than 20 minutes from Pearland, sports enthusiasts flock to Houston’s stadiums, fields and courts to see top teams like:
• National Football League Houston Texans

• National Basketball Association Houston Rockets
• Major League Soccer Houston Dynamo

Houston is also a popular destination for national sporting events and has hosted Super Bowls and All-Star games. Upcoming events include the Final Four in 2011 and 2016 and, annually, the PGA tour event Shell Houston Open.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

In late February and early March, Reliant Stadium is the site of the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo—the world’s largest livestock show and richest Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo. This charitable event involves over 22,000 volunteers and has a general attendance of over two million.
