PEDC Annual Report

Each year, PEDC produces an annual report to highlight the accomplishments, goals and various projects that were completed in the previous year.

Greetings friends, colleagues and community partners,

Pearland has long been a community focused on sustained economic growth, and 2017 was no exception. Over the last year, while city sales tax revenues reached a record $31.7 million, the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) worked toward enhancing our community’s economic vitality and showcasing Pearland as an innovative and inviting city filled with opportunity for all.

In 2017, PEDC helped existing businesses expand their operations and recruited new ones to the community. These partnerships generated more than $20 million in capital investment for Pearland. We celebrated the groundbreaking of Tool-Flo Manufacturing’s new facility. Construction continued on Swiss pharma and biotech supplier Lonza’s facility, soon to be the largest in the world dedicated to cell and gene therapy and manufacturing. We assisted Base Pair Biotechnologies and Adient Medical with expansions, reaffirming our commitment to be a community of choice for life science and healthcare-related organizations.

PEDC continued championing implementation of the Pearland 20/20 Community Strategic Plan. We worked with community partners to make significant progress on many of the plan’s key initiatives, from economic development marketing to the completion of four gateways into our city. We continued beautification efforts for the State Highway 35 and 288 Corridors and took the first steps toward a multi-use event center in Pearland.

During 2018, the PEDC board of directors and staff will work to sustain our position as one of the most effective and efficient economic development organizations in the nation. We will keep our Pearland 20/20 plan in the forefront, working in tandem with the city and our many community partners to ensure Pearland remains prepared for future population and economic growth. Our combined efforts will create new possibilities for the city and its residents, reinforcing our overall message that the best business opportunity in Houston is due south.

Sincerely,
Chair, Brandon Dansby
